A meeting about drugs in institutions was
held by the Commissioner of Police office in Tinghir in Elwafa middle school on
Monday 12, February, 2013.
The meeting came in the context of a
security program by the Police office in Tinghir to communicate with the civil
society and the community. The goal of the security approach was to sensitize
people to the security of the school institution and its surrounding for
protecting students from all kinds of dangers that could affect their
psychological, social, and educational safety.
There was a range of topics that were presented by the Commissioner of Police in coordination with the regional prosecutor. The most important one was the need for the protection of learners from all the threats that have become widespread and affect a specific age group. These topics were presented:
- Drugs and their consequences
- Delinquency and sexual exploitation of minors
- Citizenship education and the role of civil society in the field of security
- Education on road safety
- Sports violence inside stadiums
- Computer crimes and the Internet
The meeting was opened by the Dean of the police noting the negative impact of drugs and their impact on the environment and the need to engage all for the safety of citizens , after that , he gave a detailed presentation about the concept and the types of drugs and the difference between addiction and habituation , the stages of addiction , the laws against drugs, and their negative effects, psychologically , economically, and healthily. He also talked about the origin of the drug, injunctions, penalties, and prevention of other threats that the attendees reported.
This educational meeting won the admiration of the learners. After the show ended, a debate opened on how to contribute to the fight against drugs.
The meeting was attended by a group of officers and the Pasha of the city and the regional deputy of the Ministry of National Education and president of the Association of parents and some of the teachers and the meeting was extremely positive.
We thank the Commissioner of Police for this educational meeting which inevitably would prevent many of the teenagers from taking drugs and we thank also the institution that provided the space for it.
